Revitalizing downtown Pryor

PRYOR, OK — We’re pleased to announce that Ron Drake with Drake Concepts will be coming to Pryor April 14 and 15,” said BJ Cummings, Main Street Director.

Drake Concepts is a consulting firm based in Siloam Springs, Ark.

“Ron has been instrumental in developing downtown Siloam Springs as a Main Street community and has won numerous awards for his endeavors,” said Cummings. “His approach to practical preservation was exciting and refreshing.”

Drake has written a book, “Flip This Town,” which is available for purchase at Pryor’s Main Street office.

The book’s message, he said, is giving inspiration to small towns across America.

“Thank you so much for your invitation to work with your downtown,” Drake wrote in a letter to Main Street. “I have spent a career focused on quality of life issues, improving neighborhoods and restoring the downtown core, and I look forward to taking this passion into your community.”

Drake has restored 17 historic buildings and revitalized over 75,000 square feet of downtown space. His pride and joy, Siloam Springs, has been listed as “Number 14 Best Small Town in America” by Smithsonian Magazine.

“Drake is passionate about building robust and lively communities,” according to his biography. “Walking down the streets of Siloam Springs, visitors comment on the tapestry of community support, beautiful architecture and thriving businesses.”

In 2014, Main Street Arkansas awarded Drake the “Main Street Hero” award. He has also been awarded “Best Renovation Projects,” and “Outstanding Personal Project.” He was named Main Street Volunteer of the Year in 2010 and honored as one of the 40 Under 40 by the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal.

State Architect Larry Lucas visited Pryor Main Street Monday. Lucas visited with business and building owners on the 200 block of Graham to discuss facade rennovation. Fourteen Main Street merchants attended a presentation.
