Body found in truck near Lake Hudson

PRYOR, OK — GRDA launched an investigation after a dead body was found in a truck near Lake Hudson.

“Thursday, somebody noticed a pickup truck that had been sitting at the campground for a long time,” said Grand River Dam Authority Corporate Commmunications Director Justin Alberty. “Another individual, possibly someone that was fishing out there, apporoached the truck and attempted to rouse the individual. When he could not do so, GRDA police were notified.”

The truck was parked on Horseshoe campground, just off Waterline Road.

Alberty confirmed that the deceased was a male, but no name or other identifying information has been released at this time.

“There was no signs of struggle or inury. At this time it looks like natural causes, but the deceased was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Tulsa for confirmation,” said Alberty.

While there is no indication of how long the body was in the truck, the investigation is ongoing. More information will become available after GRDA’s official report is complete.

“They will be interviewing the fisherman who attempted to rouse the deceased, and any other witnesses who saw the truck,” said Alberty, adding that the investigation is still in the preliminary stages.

He said the investigation on site has wrapped up. meaning the popular fishing spot will likely still be open to the public this weekend.

Horseshoe Inn and Campground posted to their Facebook Thursday, “The incident happened next door at the Horseshoe boat ramp and fishing area, not the Horseshoe Inn and Campground.”

A post was made later in the day saying, “If it’s your time to go, what a beautiful and peaceful place to meet your Maker. RIP.”
