Salina Chamber of Commerce President Morice Farr presided over his last meeting this week.
Next month, Roger Johnson will take over as president. The majority of discussion was about the Christmas parade, which was Dec. 8.
Gail Fox said she will be sending out membership renewals.
There was some discussion of cleaning up the chamber office, located on Ferry Street.
Most of the agenda items were skipped as they pertained to events next year. When Easter came up as an agenda item Gail Fox said, “Let’s don’t talk about Easter.”
Diana Burns said a lady complimented the town on the use of “Merry Christmas” as opposed to “Season’s Greetings.” The lady gave the compliment on her Facebook page.
The Chamber approved $250 dollars for Toys for Tots.
Under new business, there was some discussion of promoting a tractor pull in June.
The chamber allocated $1,000 toward the purchase of Christmas lights when they go on sale in January. “Every year we add just a little bit more,” Burns said.
“This has been a great three and a half years I have been with you all,” Farr said. “I want you to know it is the greatest thing that has happened in my life. Thank you.” Farr said he hoped to be able to serve again next year if his work schedule permits.
Farr became president last summer after Cyndi Johnston resigned.
