Your Place Church is expanding to make room for everyone.
The expansion starts with a building renovation proposal.
“We are currently in the process of presenting the idea, to the church, of purchasing the entire building,” said Pastor Darian Rains. “The goal would be to purchase the building, pay it off, then renovate so the church doesn’t have any debt.”
YPC currently shares the 28,000 square-foot building with Upperspace.
“The proposed expansion would create a larger auditorium, a larger children’s space, a separate youth auditorium and a ton of much needed extra parking,” said Rains.
With a hundred youth and an ever-growing congregation, the church needs all the space it can get.
The expansion includes more than just the building, though.
“We are starting a new outreach program called Beautifully Made,” said Stephanie Webster, executive administrator. “We are reaching out to single women and moms. We help them find and understand the services they need, like budgeting, applying for food stamps and Sooner Care.
Webster said the women also receive personal mentorship and spiritual guidance in this outreach program.
YPC already has several programs in place, including a group for foster parents.
“We want to create a worship environment for people that have become disillusioned with church,” said Rains. “There is a Charles Finney quote that comes to mind when talking about our mission here. Finney says our theaters are full because we lie so well, and our churches are empty because we tell the truth so poorly.”
Rains says the church does its best to remain culturally relevant, and appeal to a wide demographic.
“A lot of our outreach targets the young twenties age range, but there is a place for everyone here,” said Rains.
