The town of Adair approved a resolution to increase water and sewer rates at the regular meeting Monday evening.

The resolution states that due to the increased cost of operating the water and sewer departments, modifications should be made in the rates.

The town has a new sewer treatment plant and water is now purchased from Rural Water District 6, which receives its water from Oklahoma Ordnance Works Authority.

The new rates for commercial customers are $31 for the fits 1,000 gallons of water, $5.75 for the next 1,000 gallons, $6 for the next 2,000 gallons and $6.25 for the next 5,000 gallons.  All water over 10,000 gallons will add $6.50 to the former charges.

Residential water rates are $21 for the first 1,000 gallons, $5.75 for the next 1,000 gallons, $6 for the next 2,000 gallons, $6.25 for the next 5,000 gallons and usage over 10,000 add $6.50.

The new sewer rates for residential customers are $18 for the first 1,000 gallons, $2 for the next 1,000 gallons, $2.25 for the next 2,000 gallons, $2.50 for the next 5,000 gallons and all over 10,000 gallons plus $3.

Residential sewer rates will be $10 for the first 1,000 gallons, $2 for the next 1,000 gallons, $2.25 for the next 2,000 gallons, $3.50 for the next 5,000 gallons and all over 10,000 gallons add $3.
