PRYOR, OK — Pryor city government is preparing for the special general election Tuesday, Feb. 11. 2014.  A council member from each of the four districts will be elected.

Current council members whose terms are ending are Roger Willcutt, Leonard Barnes, Randy Chitwood and Carolyn Wise.

Filing for the offices will be between Dec. 2 and Dec. 4, between 8 a.m and 5 p.m at the Mayes County Election Board.

“As far as I've been told everyone is running again,” said Mayor Jimmy Tramel. “Nobody's told me any different.”

Tramel said he will be running for mayor again when the time comes. In reference to the rumors that Tramel will be running for state representative, he said it's one of his life's goals.

“I have two life goals. The first is to write a book called “Knowing Your Place,” about going from a 4-11 little kid to mayor and knowing your place in life. The second is to be a state representative,” said Tramel.

He said that while he does want to run for representative, his wife is less than enthusiastic and wants him to stay home. Tramel said he also does not want to run against Ben Sherrer.

Sherrer's term expires in 2016. The next mayoral election in Pryor is 2015.
