Chouteau PD scores drug bust

A routine traffic stop in Chouteau resulted in a drug arrest May 27. Brian Frederick Warner, 52, Inola, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chouteau Police officer Justin Allen was on patrol with his partner T.J. Cox  and new Chouteau City Councilor Jeremy Cantrell when he pulled over Warner for a traffic violation.

During the stop, Allen said he asked Warner where he was coming from and where he was going.

“He said he was coming from his house in Inola to his old house in Salina,” Allen said.

The officer said Warner was acting nervous. He gave Warner a citation for speeding and then asked for consent to search the vehicle.

At first, Warner declined.  Allen said he was going to call for the Locust Grove K9 officer to assist when Warner told him there was marijuana in the truck. During a search of the vehicle, Allen said the officers found approximately 4 1/2 ounces of marijuana and 8 grams of methamphetamines or crystal meth.

“Crystal meth you generally see coming from Mexico,” Allen said.

The drugs have a street value of approximately $1,000.

Warner was booked into the Mayes County jail. He made his initial appearance in court on May 27 where he was held over on $10,000 bond. Warner posted bond May 31. He will be back in court June 30 on the preliminary hearing sounding docket.
