It’s official: Walmart market coming to LG

PRYOR, OK — The plans to secure a Walmart location in Locust Grove at the northwest intersection of Highway 412 and Highway 82 are in the works, according to Brenda Williams, LG Town Office Manager.

“We have had several meetings with Cochran Engineers who are leading the project.  We have approved their signage plan along with other plans but I do not know right off the top of my head what they were. They (Walmart) are coming to town.”

Ryan Schweissguth of Cochran Engineers in Union, Mo., was not available to comment on any surveys, storm or sewer plans, drainage or storm water detention calculations, or site development plans.

Erica Jones with Walmart Public Relations in Chicago, Ill., said, “The Walmart Neighborhood Market plans to begin construction this summer in Locust Grove. This will put the grand opening around the beginning of 2015. It will be a smaller store of approximately 32,000 square feet and employ 95 associates, both full-time and part-time. “

The location will have an onsite gas station but the fuel provider has not been named.
