Oklahoma Highway Patrol received a call alerting them to a possible dead body at the low water dam near 550 Road in Locust Grove Monday morning.
Mayes County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene at 7:35 a.m. A sheriff's investigator reported that upon arriving to the parking area, on the Locust Grove side, a deceased male was found. The deceased is believed to be in his mid-50's.
Investigators said foul play is not suspected.
When asked about speculation that a shotgun was found with the body, officials would neither confirm nor deny.
The sheriff's effice is leading the investigation, but is awaiting confirmation of identity from the medical examiner.
This is the third dead body found in the area in recent weeks. The first was found by a fisherman on earbob road in Locust Grove, June 8. Officials suspect that individual was Roy Joice, 58, but have not received official confirmation from the medical examiner.
A body was found by a fisherman in Big Cabin Creek, the northern end of Lake Hudson, Thursday. Grand River Dam Authority is leading that investigation. No identity or cause of death has been released at this time but officials do say it was a male around 60 years of age.
