The Keenagers, senior adult group of Pryor First Baptist Church, hosted their Thanksgiving Dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the church's Fellowship Hall. The group enjoyed turkey and dressing, hot rolls, and all the trimmings.
While the group gathered, Beverly Fitch led group singing, beginning with the appropriate "Count Your Blessings." Chaplain Nelson Devers offered a blessing before the meal.
Following the meal, special guest Megan Poole sang and spoke to the group. Megan and her husband Brian both grew up in Pryor FBC. Megan came to Pryor at four years old when her dad, Scott Neighbors, became the youth minister at FBC. She and Brian and their two sons will be moving to Missouri where Brian has a new job.
"Bittersweet" was the word Megan used to describe her feelings. She talked about some of her memories of people and events during her time in Pryor, saying at one point that she felt "very blessed to be a part of such a special group of people for so many years." Megan sang a medley of hymns.
Following Megan's talk, there was a brief business session. A nominating committee was selected to have a slate of new officers to present to the group in December. The members joining current president Annette Statham and Sr. Adult minister Jim Bryant on the committee are Dorothy Roy and Joy and Paul Mobley.
The group discussed prayer needs and talked about the Thanksgiving dinner for the SEED students and their families on Nov. 14.
The Keenagers regular Christmas dinner will be Dec. 18 in the Fellowship Hall. There was discussion about a trip to the Coleman Theatre Beautiful in Miami on Dec. 8 to see “Big Band Christmas.”
