Mayes County Election Board
Voters in the Towns of Chouteau, Salina and Spavinaw who want to vote by mail absentee ballot in next Tuesday’s Election have missed the application deadline, Election Board Secretary Jill McCullah said today.
Voters who want to cast absentee ballots may still do so at the Mayes County Courthouse on Friday, March 29, or Monday, April 1. A two-member bipartisan Absentee Voting Board will be on duty Friday and Monday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. to assist in-person absentee voters.
In-person absentee voters are required to show ID and then fill out a short application form when they arrive at the courthouse. They are not required to give a reason for voting absentee. They are required to affirm that they have not voted a regular mail absentee ballot and that they will not vote at their polling place on election day.
The Absentee Voting Board verifies a voter’s registration information and ID, and then issues the voter’s ballots. The voter marks the ballots in a voting booth and puts them in the voting device.
