PRYOR, OK — A two-truck collision drew area law enforcement to the Grand River Dam Authority coal-fired plant area Monday.

According to Chouteau Fire Chief Ted Key, one tanker truck rear-ended another tanker truck on Highway 412B around 12:30 p.m.

The driver allegedly could not see the truck in front of him because of the fog caused by the plant's cooling towers.

One truck was carrying sodium sulfide and the other was transporting styrene.

Chouteau Fire and Police Departments, Mayes County Sheriff's Office, Pryor Fire Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, GRDA Police Department and Mayes Emergency Services Trust Authority all responded to the scene.

Fortunately, Key said, no chemicals were spilled on the roadway.

“Because of the location and the fact that both trucks were carrying chemicals, multiple agencies responded in case assistance was needed in clean-up,” said Key.
