PRYOR, OK —
At the meeting Monday, Mayes County Commissioners approved depositing a check for $543,730.11.
The check was issued by the Cherokee Nation in payment for the Murphy Creek bridge project. According to Commissioner Darrell Yoder, Cherokee Nation is funding 80 percent of the project.
The project goes out for bid in February, then 10 days after the bid submissions are in, the project will be awarded.
“I would imagine the bridge will be closed for construction for about 150 days. But once the bid is awarded the company handling the project will say for sure,” said Yoder.
The old wooden bridge is being taken down and replaced with a new bridge.
