Two helicopters called to accident

Three were transported to Tulsa after a head-on collision Tuesday.

The accident occurred at 5:02 p.m., west of Langley on Highway 28, near the intersection of 4450 Road.

According to a report from Oklahoma Highway Patrol officer Brian Gage, a 1994 Oldsmobile drifted over the center line and struck a westbound 1991 Buick.

Connie Encinas, 51, Spavinaw, was eastbound in the Oldsmobile and traveled left of center for an unknown reason. She was pinned for 48 minutes and flown to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa by Life Flight. Encinas was in stable condition and suffered trunk internal and leg injuries.

The driver of the Buick, Terry Covington, 45, Ketchum, was pinned for 53 minutes. Air Evac flew Covington to St. Francis Hospital. He suffered leg injuries and was treated and released.

Covington’s passenger, Tammie Ennis, 39, Pryor, was treated for head injuries. She was pinned for 38 minutes and taken by MESTA to St. Francis.

Travis Fleming, Strang Fire Chief, said four fire departments responded to the crash. Fleming said Langley Fire Department requested Strang’s Jaws of Life. Also summoned were Disney and Cabin Creek Fire Departments, who helped with traffic control.

Fleming said “both vehicles had substantial damage.” He said the cars hit head-on, mostly on the driver’s sides. All three victims had to be extricated. They were all wearing seatbelts.
