A closet full of marijuana plants and several stolen guns were discovered Sunday when Deputy Loraine Henderson served an arrest warrant on Michael Sweeney, 33, Rogers Cove.
Investigator Albert McKee said Henderson took Sweeney into custody at his residence Sunday for a failure to appear warrant in connection with a possession of controlled dangerous substance charge.
Acting on a hunch that Sweeney was connected to a burglary a couple of days earlier at house nearby, Henderson asked Sweeney’s fiance where he stored the stolen property.
The woman gave consent to search and the stolen guns and several household items were discovered in the house. During the search, Henderson found 13 marijuana plants growing in a closet.
“It was a unique hydroponic grow,” said McKee.
The closet had been turned into a growing chamber with aluminum lined walls, grow lights on timers, humidifiers and other items connected to cultivation.
McKee said Sweeney was arrested for cultivation, knowingly concealing stolen property and false personation for giving deputies a fake name when they arrived.
The district attorney’s office will decide what charges to file against Sweeney.
