Running man carrying drugs

Sommer Woodward
Staff Reporter

A Chouteau Police Officer discovered several drugs on a Tulsa man Tuesday after being called to Love’s convenience store to investigate a harassment complaint.

The man accused was gone by the time Officer Brad Rowland arrived, but store employees gave him a description.

As Rowland left the store, he saw the man walking north on Highway 69 near Highway 412.

When Rowland pulled his vehicle near the suspect and flipped on the emergency lights, the man took off

running.

Rowland began chasing the suspect, who stopped running west of Highway 412 and lay face down in the ditch.

William Walter Brown, 37, Tulsa, admitted he had

marijuana on him when Rowland asked.

When he was searched, Rowland found half an ounce of marijuana, 23 Lortabs, a small baggie with methamphetamine, a used syringe, a smoking pipe and knife.

Brown was arrested and booked in the Mayes County Jail. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $7,500.
