Pryor lunch prices remain the same

Meals prices are not going up at Pryor Schools this year.

Superintendent Don Raleigh said Monday lunch prices will stay the same in the 2009-2010 school year. The price is $1 for elementary lunches and breakfasts. The cost for secondary lunches and teacher lunches is $1.25.

The school is adding a “grab and go” breakfast for the junior high and high school. The quick breakfast option will cost $1.

“I would like to hold the costs where they are for at least one more year if possible,” said Raleigh.

Pryor School Board hired staff and faculty in a special meeting.

The following personnel were hired:

• Monica Moore, fifth grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary

• Brittany Coppendge, aide at Washington Elementary

• Valijean Walters, aide at Jefferson Elementary

• Reid Brendeland, alternative education secretary

• Steven Ledbetter, technology position

• Sally Tibbetts, custodian at Roosevelt Elementary

The board approved moving Patricia Faircloth to the position of child nutrition secretary.

The board approved the resignations of Zach Cowan, Amanda Henderson and Jo Campos. Cowan and Henderson were instructors at Pryor Junior High. Campos was an aide at the junior high.

Pryor Schools received a grant of $11,804 to replace the range hood at Jefferson Elementary. The grant was awarded as part of the 2009 Equipment Assistance Grants for School Food Authorities.

Raleigh said bond monies are available. The school will begin purchasing band instruments, library software and other technology.

The board approved creating an outdoor class for the 2009-2010 school year.

The school has sent out for bus bids, which will be opened in the July 6 board meeting.
