Commissioners approve vacating railroad crossing

The Mayes County Board of Commissioners held their regular meeting Monday morning. The commissioners approved the resolution to vacate the portion of EW 37.5 Road that crosses the Union Pacific Railroad in Section 14 Township 23North Range 19East.

The resolution to correct the legal description of Jack Ribbon Cemetery was approved and the commissioners deeded the property to Bristow Leon Hankins

District 2 Commissioner Larry Ramsey read a citation recognizing Nancy Reed for her 12 years of service as secretary at the Oklahoma Extension Service office in Pryor.

The commissioners received one acceptable bid on the new maintenance barn for District 1. Brewer Construction Company of Chouteau submitted a bid of $171,844. The bid was tabled for further consideration.

The three month, six month, and yearly bids for hot mix, asphalt, rock, grader blades, pipe, and other equipment were awarded either by low bid, availability or location.

The renewal of the contract for the Juvenile Graduated Sanctions Program was approved.

The board approved the road maintenance agreement for Lakeshore Drive.

The financial statement for resale property fund was approved by the commissioners.

Funds in the amount of $1,147 from the grant received by the Fair Board were approved for deposit in the Fair Board account.

The lease purchase agreement for equipment through the revolving fund was approved in the amount of $57,691.01 for a tractor with front end loader and mower.

The commissioners approved Mayes County Treasurer Martha Carman’s recommendation to use Rogers County Bank for depository funds, and the remainder of the12 county banks for investment funds.

The appropriation of T County funds was approved as follows: District 1, $108,098.86; District 2, $69,677.87, and District 3, $60,147.87. This is the amount of money each district has to operate for the month.

The appropriation of cash accounts was approved.

Johnny Janzen, 911 Coordinator, reported that 911 will begin dispatching for the Grand River Dam Authority after 5 p.m. and on the weekends. “This will make it easier to dispatch the needed people more effectively,” said Janzen.

Lloyd Colston, Mayes County Emergency Management Director, thanked the commissioners for the opportunity to attend the Coalition Warrior and news 1 6/26/07 Interoperability Demonstration in Virginia and the pleasure to represent Mayes County and Pryor.

The consideration of claims for payment, and the request for blanket purchases orders were approved.
