Chouteau sewer rates stay the same

Sommer Woodward
Staff Reporter

Chouteau Public Works Authority (PWA) trustees chose to not change the way sewer rates are calculated during the regular meeting Monday.

Trustees discussed basing the sewer rates based on the amount of water usage per customer. A motion to change the sewer rates failed for lack of a second. The sewer rates will remain the same.

In other business:

• Bill Dinsmore with Pryor Waste & Recycling asked the board to consider his company for trash service. Mayor Jerry Floyd said the town is still under contract with Green Country Refuse for two more years, but the PWA board decided to renegotiate the existing contract. Steve Schurwon with Green Country Refuse spoke to the board last month about offering polycarts for residences. The renegotiated contract may include provisions for residents to use the carts. A special meeting is Friday, May 15, at 5 p.m.

• The board approved purchasing meters for utilities from Water Products for the new First Baptist Church at a cost of $2,179.

• PWA Secretary Juanita Rabbit was approved to attend Municipal League training June 18-19, in Tulsa.

PWA offices will close that day to allow Rabbit to attend.
