Rape charges filed; $900,000 bond

Sommer Woodward
Staff Reporter

Patrick Lee Satterwhite, 36, was charged with first degree rape, second degree rape, two counts of forcible sodomy and two counts of child sexual abuse Tuesday.

Satterwhite is accused of several sexual incidents with a 10-year-old and 15-year-old boy over the course of three years.

One incident Satterwhite is charged with involves the rape of one of the boys.

Captain Pat Knowles said one afternoon, the mother of the boys observed some unusual behavior and asked one of the boys where he learned such a thing. The boy told his mother he learned from Satterwhite.

The mother talked with both boys and was told of inappropriate behavior between both boys and Satterwhite.

The mother contacted the sheriff’s office and the boys’ father.

Satterwhite was away on business and was expected to fly into Tulsa Friday, March 30.

Investigators with the Mayes County Sheriff’s office waited at the residence near Adair for Satterwhite to return.

When he returned, Satterwhite spoke with Knowles and confessed to a portion of the accusations.

Satterwhite was stopped from talking at this point and taken to the sheriff’s office.

A miranda warning was read to Satterwhite and he was interviewed by Knowles and Investigator Scott Yeager.

Satterwhite gave a confession to several heinous crimes involving 25 to 30 inappropriate incidents on video.

Satterwhite also admitted to having an external hard drive for a computer with several photos of the inappropriate behavior with the two boys.

A search warrant was obtained to search the hard drive and the sheriff’s office is waiting for the evidence.

Yeager said Satterwhite is considered a huge flight risk because of his job.

Satterwhite works for Motorola installing 911 communication systems and makes in excess of $100,000 a year.

Yeager said Satterwhite stated that he should have gotten his affairs in order and flew to the Bahamas because of the allegations.

The district attorney’s office asked for a $150,000 bond for each count, totaling $900,000.

Special District Judge Gary Dean set the bond at $900,000 and Satterwhite was remanded into the custody of the Mayes County jail.

His next court appearance is the preliminary hearing sounding docket at 9:30 a.m., April 26.
