Former coach turns himself in

Sommer Woodward
Staff Reporter

Dustin Maudlin, 24, former coach at Spavinaw Public Schools, turned himself in at the Mayes County jail Thursday and posted a $15,000 bond.

Maudlin is facing two felony lewd molestation charges for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl two times in November and December 2006.

School officials discovered the allegations and informed police.

Maudlin was charged Thursday, March 22, in Mayes County District Court with two counts of lewd molestation.

He is scheduled for the preliminary hearing sounding docket May 24.

Superintendent Melissa Hill said the board accepted Mauldin’s resignation at the regular meeting March 20.

Hill said an employee of the schools has stepped in to fill the coach’s position for the remainder of the year.

Spavinaw will be seeking someone to fill the position for the 2007-2008 school year.
