Credit union sues former employee

The Mayes County Federal Credit Union has filed suit against a former employee alleging embezzlement of $1,650,482.85.

The suit alleges Cynthia Jan Harris, “wrongfully and with reckless disregard of the rights of the Plaintiff ... breached her fiduciary duties by systematically embezzling, misappropriating and taking funds.”

Harris allegedly created fictitious deposits of money to accounts held in the names of family members, all listed as co-defendants, where the money was later withdrawn.

Co-defendants are Ryan Michael Harris, Tyler Harris, Michael Harris, Kimberly Dawn Harris, Joyce Propp, Jeffery Harris, Danielle Harris, Chad Potts and Karla Potts.

The amounts deposited in various accounts range from $352,614.44 to Ryan Michael Harris, $357,719.74 to Kimberly Dawn Harris, $152,014.70 to Tyler Harris, $163,939 to Michael Harris, $4,330 to Joyce Propp, $15,721.38 to Jeffery Harris and Danielle Harris in a joint account and $2,340.55 to Chad Potts and Karla Potts in a joint account.

Mayes County Federal Credit Union alleges Harris prepared financial reports without reflecting the embezzlement transactions and made representations to

the bank knowing the

information was false.

The bank is asking for a judgment against the

defendants in amount of $1,650,482.85.
