New school board members elected

Voters cast their ballots for school board candidates Tuesday, electing one candidate by two votes in Chouteau-Mazie Schools.

Donda Richards won with 169 votes over Larry Stamper’s 167 votes. The two extra votes gave her a .6 percent lead over Stamper.

In Locust Grove, Andrew Snell won with 63.9 percent of the vote or 152 ballots. James Caldwell got 89 votes or 36.9 percent.

Salina candidate Greg Rice secured the school board seat with 47 votes over Tex Gaskins’ eight votes. Rice took 85.5 percent over Gaskins’ 14.5 percent.

Spavinaw voters chose Charles Adams with 63 votes, or 67.7 percent, over Georgina Haywood’s 31 or 32.3 percent.

Billy Bays took the Ketchum seat with 174 votes or 58.98 percent. Jenny Spielmann had 41.02 percent of the vote with 121. Ketchum school district encompasses both Craig and Mayes County.

Chelsea school district includes a small portion of Mayes County voters. W. Vernon Salyer won with 53.95 percent or 123 votes. Lori Milam was a close second with 105 votes or 46.05 percent.
