Pryor plans Freedom Fest

PRYOR, OK — The city of Pryor is raising funds to support its Fourth of July celebration. Pryor is a community of more than 9,000 people, the county seat of Mayes County and serviced by Grand River Dam Authority. GRDA is contributing $2,500 to the effort.

The goal is to host a community gathering to support our nation’s independence. Pryor regularly attracts thousands of people by hosting events such as runs, bicycle rides and entertainment.

“Every year, the citizens of Pryor want to celebrate Independence Day with a community celebration,” said Travis Noland, Pryor city councilman. “We are grateful for GRDA's support to bring our community together with food, fireworks and fun.”

A group of volunteers are working to organize food vendors, live music, kids’ festivities and an evening of fireworks.

This will be the first celebration of its kind in three years.

The celebraion is July 3 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Pryor Football Stadium.
