Mayes County Emergency Management has recently signed an ageement to provide services to the town of Locust Grove.
Part of this service includes the testing of outdoor storm sirens.
“These haven’t been tested too regularly in the past, so residents may not be used to hearing them,” said MCEM Director Johnny Janzen. “We will be testing them Tuesday, April 1 at noon. We don’t want people to hear them and panic.”
There are three outdoor storm sirens in Locust Grove. Janzen would like to remind residents these sirens are not meant to be heard indoors. However, this might be a good opportunity, Janzen said, to step outside during the testing to see if a siren can be heard from your home.
