Adair School bond passes

— The voters of Mayes County passed a bond issue for school construction Tuesday.

The $5,995,000 will be used for construction. The results were 323 yes votes and 81 no votes.

The construction will include a new commons area, two labs, four classrooms, renovation of the hallway walls and flooring, new lighting and fire sprinkler, new office and entry way.

Two classrooms will be added at the middle school and the oldest part of the hallway will be refurbished.

Four elementary classrooms will be added, two in early childhood and two in upper elementary.

New heat and air systems will be installed throughout the district to replace outdated units.

The old gym lobby, used as a commons area during lunch, will be renovated. New furnishings will be purchased for all new classrooms.

Any funds left over will be used for asphalt overlay on the track surface which is open to the public 24-hours-a-day.

This bond will not raise taxes provided the school district continues to grow at an average of four percent yearly.
