Tigers Give Back at graduation

PRYOR, OK — Pryor High School class of 2014 is leaving a legacy of generosity. The students are collecting non-perishable food to donate to the Pryor Ministry Center.

“This will be the legacy the class of 2014 will leave behind while giving back to the community that has done so much for us, and helping the underprivileged. My inspiration behind Tigers Give Back came from wanting to thank my community while leaving a legacy as the first class to give back on graduation night before leaving” said Dhara Maisuria, a PHS senior.

“The items will be collected during the May 23 graduation ceremony. Students will drop an item into a box backstage, and guests will have an opportunity to drop an item into boxes in the lobby before the ceremony begins.”

“I was inspired to do the Tigers Give Back on graduation night because serving others has been a huge part of my high school career and I think it would be a great way to end it,” said Taylor Crupper. “It is very important to me and my fellow seniors.”

“This is my last year to be a Pryor High student, and I wanted to do something big for my community,” said Hannah Bryan.

Bryan said a group of seniors were talking about doing something big to cap off their senior year and came up with Tigers Give Back.

Senior Blake Becerra said he chose the project because he wants his senior class to leave behind a legacy they can be proud of in the future.

The project has even inspired PHS underclassmen.

“I think Tigers Give Back is a wonderful opportunity for our high school to give back to our community and show that we do care for others,” said Rachel Ross. “And it is a great opportunity to work with our own community as they give as well. It will be a good new event that all graduating seniors can participate in every year.”

Donations will be given to the Pryor Ministries Center during the graduation ceremony May 23.
