PRYOR, OK —
As your Mayor I truly want the best for our City and you the citizens of Pryor Creek. Let me take this time to answer a few questions you may have.
What is going to happen to old Homeland Building?
The City has contacted different companies for possible tenants. We will work with owners of the building to try and make sure it is not left vacant any longer than necessary.
Is Sam and Ella’s ever going to open?
The owner has stated repeatedly that it will open and continues to work on the inside. If you drive by, one can see work being done. The citizens will soon see a new face and continue to see our downtown be revitalized.
In The Paper you had an article on the needs of the City. Do you plan on raising taxes to pay for those ideas?
Absolutely not. The City’s taxes are currently as high as you and I can stand. That does not mean those items mentioned in the article are not needed, we just need to put a plan together to accomplish them in the future.
What does the City do with their share of property tax?
Oklahoma is the only State that does not provide a portion of the property tax to fund Cities. That is why it is so important that you buy local and if you buy on the internet the business has a store front in Oklahoma.
What is the plan for the other streets needing repair?
These streets will be placed in the 2014 evaluation and budget. We have identified those streets with the greatest need.
Is the City going to plow the side streets when it snows?
The answer is no. Reason being, we have identified the snow routes and those areas will be maintained. We cannot clean the side streets due to parked cars and blocking driveways. The plow would move the snow and ice to the sides causing blockage. We cannot tend to the amount of complaints that occur because of this issue. There are exceptions, if it is an emergency, so please don’t hesitate to call.
Remember Christmas is a time for family and friends as we also celebrate the birth of Jesus.
