Salina man arrested on drug charges

PRYOR, OK — Charles Kenney Jr., 46, was arrested Tuesday on felony charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Salina Police Department's interim chief Justin Hokett arrested the man for possession of methamphetamine, Oxycontin and paraphernalia. Both substances are schedule II narcotics.

According to the affidavit filed in the case, Kenney also had a “smoking pipe, tie off rubber, syringes and spoons.”

Kenney appeared in Mayes County District Court via video conference from the Mayes County Jail. As he has prior felony convictions, Kenney was told his charges can carry from four years to life in prison. His bond was set at $50,000 and his case continued to July 24.

In 2006, Kenney was charged with possession of a controlled drug and was sentenced to six years in prison. In 1996, he was charged with two felony counts of uttering forged instruments and was sentenced to seven years in prison. Also in 1996, he was charged with a felony count of escaping from prison and was sentenced to seven years to run concurrent with his other charges.
