— William Wilkerson was scheduled to appear in Mayes County court Thursday, March 28. He was escorted to the court house Thursday morning, only to be returned to the jail minutes later.

Wilkerson is charged with the first degree murder of his mother, Susan Wilkerson.

This court hearing was to be his preliminary hearing. The defendant submitted an application to determine mental competency. Therefore, the court ordered mental observation and examination.

As a result, his preliminary hearing was continued until May 9, at 9:30 a.m.

November 28, 2012, Wilkerson called 911 to report that he had stabbed his mother because he thought she was lying to him.

Court reports describe Wilkerson as a 5-foot -10  American Indian man weighing 240 pounds. The crime scene was described simply as gruesome.

Wilkerson, in an interview with OSBI, said he strangled his mother. He then stabbed her with a paring knife, which broke. At that point he retrieved a kitchen knife and stabbed her at least two more times.

The Sheriff’’s Deputies were dispatched to Rose, where Wilkerson shared a residence with hismother. They reported that the woman was deceased when they arrived on the scene.

Though Wilkerson has a history of alcohol related offenses, he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time.
