Potential jurors could face arrest

Mayes County began the process of seating a jury Monday. According to Court Clerk Lori Parsons, of 389 people summoned, less than half arrived. There are exceptions to jury duty, but most of those summoned have made no attempt to contact the court clerk’s office. Judge Terry McBride authorized deputies to find the jurors who didn’t come to court and arrest them. If you were summoned for jury duty, it is necessary to come to the courthouse or contact the court clerk’s office to avoid arrest.

“We are in desperate need of jurors,” Parsons said. The last jury term was cancelled due to the snowstorm.
