Pryor on Fire Teen Ministries Use Pool for Baptism

Daily Times

Pryor ON Fire Teen Ministries held their bi-annual water baptism Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at the Pryor Public Pool. Members of Pryor Creek Community Church along with teens from their youth ministry, Pryor ON Fire, were baptized. Between 60 to 70 people were submerged into the chilly waters, professing their faith in Christ and embracing the life of faith.

Many of these were Thunderbird Youth Academy Cadets, which attend Pryor ON Fire bi-weekly for services. Pastor Derek Melton stated; "It is a passion of ours to reach-out and minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ to these kids. It is our calling in life to work hand-in-hand with the Thunderbird Academy's mission, to help at-risk youth".

The ministry provided a cook-out for all that attended, cooking over 500 hot-dogs, chips, cookies and pop. Melton said the community jumps in and helps us with this event. Tom Egbert at Homeland donated 200 cans of pop; Karen Davidson, manager of Walmart, donated 500 hot-dog buns; Sysco foods donated 500 hotdogs; GRDA donated the use of their commerical grill; Orschelin donated the use of a water trough to keep the pop cold; and the Pryor Fire Department donated the ice.

Melton said, "this is an opportunity of a life-time and we're zealous to rise to the occasion for the sake of Christ". Pryor ON Fire Teen Ministries began in 1991 with a vision to reach out to Pryor area teens with the love of God.
