PRYOR, OK —
A full day (and night) of ranch rodeo events is scheduled at Pryor’s 4-Way Arena Saturday.
At 11 a.m., the ultimate ranch hand challenge will see which cowboys can get the best scores riding a bronc, cutting a cow and tying a steer down. There will be open and junior categories. Each cowboy will be scored and the overall winner in each age group will win a buckle along with prize money.
At 7 p.m., the year’s last qualifying rodeo for the Working Ranch Cowboys Association finals in Amarillo, Texas, will begin. This is a ranch’s last chance to win a rodeo, which gets them a finals berth. Twenty-two teams from several states will try to win the last spot.
Pryor’s WRCA rodeo is also a benefit fundrasier for a cowboy crisis fund. The first recipient was Casey Round who was injured in a trailer loading accident. Cody Sanders was the next recipient after he lost his leg in a roping accident. Short Foreman was the recipient for cancer treatment.
An application process will begin Oct. 15 for the 2013 recipient.
Gate admission to the ranch hand challenge is $5. Admission to the ranch rodeo is $10, children 6-12 $5, children under 5 are free.
Vendors will have a trade show set up all day.
